Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Maine Libraries website. I am happy that you are here reading this.

Sometimes a little inkling of an idea gets rolling around in my head and gains shape and size like sticky Maine snow getting turned into a large snowball. I first thought it would be fun to read books to my youngest son at libraries local to us. We had just started the program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. I thought further about reading a book at every public library in Maine but quickly tossed that thought aside, it seemed impossible. The thought came back like Maine winter after false Spring, something you can't ignore. I thought about the logistics. Could I feasibly do this? How long would it take me? I set to work on a spread sheet, many Google Docs of notes, and lots of maps. I could do this and I would do this, I do like green eggs and ham, Sam I am.

And thus, our journey to all the public Maine libraries began.
